There might be more instances of long queues at Stansted Airport in the weeks ahead as border control staff plan more strikes this year.

The UK Border Force are just one of many groups of UK civil servants taking industrial action against the Governements recently announced pension reforms. The strike started this week and resulted in a general walk out.

An airport spokesman said: “Stansted Airport will be open and flights operating as normal; however, arriving passengers may encounter delays.”

This news comes off the back of the recent bank holiday weekend rush where UK Border Force officers were unable to cope with the high level of passengers numbers through the airport. Extra staff were borught in from other areas of the business to cope with demand.

A interviewed stated: “This recent action is bad news for the airport, especially as we have falling year on year passenger numbers in any case. We do not want the Government to allow even more passengers to be discouraged from using Stansted Airport in 2012.”
